The Weeping Lecturer

In the morning, the heavens opened and it began to rain. Bella grabbed her umbrella to get to school, as she walked out of the hostel the first

Tears of a mother

"Don't bother your brother, can't you see he doesn't have money, he could barely feed," said Olisa. "mama why have you decided to protect brother Agwu each time i bring up this issue. Does it mean he is not doing anything since five-year ago he left the village after school?" Theresa asked rhetorically. "mama, i don't know what you think but i have said my own."

In the city of Lagos, Agwu was cruising life but whenever his poor mother that was suffering in the village sends him
message, he would tell her that he has not even seen garri to smoke. Olisa, his mother would begin to worry for Agwu, she would cry all day, "why is my son suffering? Why is my son not doing well like his mates? Is this really a spel? Is it a curse on my son? God help my son.

This continued that at times she wouldn't have what to eat at all not even the usual garri and sugar or salt, she was unable to feed, the worst was that she was sick and her daughter who came visiting her from her husband's house was penniless too. Agwu's mother sent him a message to come home at least for her to see him.

When Agwu returned he went back to the usual words, "mama i can't even afford to eat three times a day, at times, once or nothing at all,"he complained.
"same here my son, but thanks to Ada who used the only one thousand naira she had to prepare this soup and made ebe (garri)" she gave out a wild breath, "Ada go and dish the food so that your brother can eat, since he said he has not had anything today," said Olisa.

Agwu was served with watering soup, no fish, he was shocked, "is this what poverty is doing to my mother and sister? When i have money to sustain my fourth generation, i throw away food in my house, build houses for my girlfriends and help people in need? What is the worth of my wealth when it can't reflect my family, "Agwu thought. "this is doom, what do i do, to break the rule?" he thought.

Funnily, he left the village immedately, he neither gave anything to his mother nor his sister, Theresa. "Mama everything will soon turn for our good," was the last word he dropped before leaving. That night he had a birthday bash in his house, he organised the party for one of his girlfriends.

Some weeks later, his mother fell sick and wasn't able to go to the hospital because of money. The sickness became worst, Eke, Agwu's friend when he was still in the village, often visits Olisa to see how she is faring. She was shocked to see Olisa dying slowly.

"mama i saw Agwu he lives in a mansion and has cars, big, big cars oh, mama,"she gestured. "i also heard he has built houses and business empires across the world, mama, but i wonder why he is doing this to you, mama," she said. Olisa couldn't breathe a word and instantly, she collapsed.

When Agwu heard of his mother's death, he left Lagos to village and began to make neccessary arrangement for her burial, he promised himself to give his mother a befitting burial-

On the day of the burial, her mother was tied an expensive wrapper and blouse with gold jewelries. And was put in an expensive coffin. Dignitaries attended the burial. At the end of the burial ceremony Agwu slept and never woke up.

Things you should expect when you connect with your spot

Get out of the rat race. After all, if you win, you will simply be the big rat. Stop running in the competition. The only person you should compete with is yourself. "how well am I performing in my leadership spot," is what you should ask yourself. You have to know that the battery does not compete with a spark plug, because the battery knows the spark plug can never be a battery, and so on. They sit in the engine in their spots and serve the engine their gift without competing

Why does negative behaviour continue?

It works. There is some kind of payoff, some type of momentary satisfaction that is derived from not changing. The reward might be financial or psychological. Some people will continue unproductive behaviour to seek approval, acceptance, praise, or love. Others continue their unacceptable actions out of pride, greed or a sense of personal fulfilment. They may oppress others with their need to always be right because they treasure being right- even if it destroys a relationship.

Adding value to other people is the work of a positive influencer

As you move up to the higher levels of influence and become an active influencer, you can begin to have a positive influence on people and add value on their lives. That's true for any positive influencer. The baby-sitter who reads to the child encourages him to love books and helps him become a lifelong learner. The teacher who puts his faith, confidence, and love on a child helps the child to feel valued and good about herself. That boss who delegates to the employees and gives them authority as well as responsibility enlarges their horizons and empowers them to become better workers and people. Even the parents who know how to give their children grace and when to, also help them to stay open and communicative. All of these people add lasting value to the lives of other people. One thing is this, we don't know what kind of influence you have on others, today as you read this article. Your actions may touch the lives of thousands of people. Perhaps you use the opportunity
