Life, one big white water

Life is like one big, white water adventure. Sometimes it is spent just drifting in the dailyness of living. Sometimes it's fast paced and overwhelming. We don't have the privilege of stopping the boat and getting off during the trip. We must face the big and small rapids and the still water whether we like it or not. There is no choice once we are on the river. We can either choose to be afraid of ripple or learn to enjoy the splashes and the excitement of the deep drop into
turbulent water.

Your choice on the river matters. What's your choice on the river. Have you been gritting your teeth and fighting the rapids? Have you come to a place where you want to stop fighting and start enjoying- to change. Even though, change is not an easy matter. It's often difficult and uncertain because life changing do not come with guarantees.

However, change gives us the opportunity to grow. It enhances our experience of independence. Change can rise hope and possibility of gaining control of an out-of-control situation. By facing change squarely in the face we can increase our self- esteem and diminish our fears.

It's one thing to think thoughts; it is another thing to express outward actions that everyone can see. Remember that most times fears arise in our thinking process. These fears may lead to denial or resistance in dealing with the issue causing our unhappiness. As we resist dealing with what is bothering us,  our stress level increases, we begin to feel worse. If we keep focusing on the past we become stuck, and there is no forward movement or growth.

It's indeed right that at some point in time, we need to become open to dealing with our problems and begin to investigate methods of resolving conflict. This intellectual exploration helps lead us to the next step. And the final step is involvement with the problem, an actual working at resolving the issue.

Take this as the outworking of taking what was a thinking process and putting on the flesh and bone of action. This is when we know that there is actual change in behaviour. As behaviour begins to change, your stress level will decrease, sure. See also Thinking is different from action
See this scenario, even though people know what is wrong in their lives, it does not mean they will change.

This is to say, sheer knowledge is not enough. It also illustrates that people can feel very badly about their circumstances and still not change. This means that feeling is not enough. People must choose to change. Are you locked in a dungeon of emotional hurt and pain?  Sure you would like to experience freedom. Then there is only one way. You have to do something- simply walk through the doorway. Remember there is no door and there is no lock. It's always in your court to make your choice. Chose to change! Isn't that awesome thought?
