The mystery

Zion was a very nice and gentle man. He was a business man, doing pretty well in aluminium business not until he decided to join politics. His reason for joining was "I need to be influential, a man of affluence, I don't think my business can give me the type of fame I need," Zion said to his wife, Omali.

Zion was a noble, upright, good man with outstanding "character"/wonderful repute no doubt but he was an ambitious man, who could go extra mile to meet to his want.


Politics is a dirty, obnoxious, bloody game. Anyone who wants to join politics must be ready for the risk and shady dealing/ activities as well as the shackles involved. If not that the life of the contestant is also at stake.

Zion never thought of all this. As a simple, kind hearted man he was, he righteously joined. He started politicking without asking questions and knowing much about politics. He joined a party, contesting as a Councillor. His opponents who had godfathers, began to attack, putting sturds and setting him up, blackmails. The lopholes and the troubles from opposition party were becoming unbearable that he thought of giving up.

But when remembered that he has spent a lot on campaign and rally, he decided to complete what he had already started. He was returning from one of his campaigns when he had a fatal accident after his second son was shot supposedly by his opponents.

"Nkeomere juo oyi," he praised his friend who happened to be my father.
"Zion, Zion," said my father. Zion sat down on the sofa that Sunday morning he visited. He was dressed in khaki suit.

After spending some moments with my parents, they gave him food after eating, he told them stories of the dynasty in Umuobom, Ideato South, Imo State.

On Monday, my father went out coincidentally he bumped into Zion's younger brother, "Zion, my brother was involved in a fatal accident on Friday, he was in coma on Saturday, breathing to death in the evening of Saturday. He passed out on Sunday noon," he said with teardrop. In shock my father shouted.

"Zion is not dead, he came to my house on Sunday, we entertained him and we discussed many things. It cannot be true," my father said in doubt.

My father returned home that day breaking the story to my mother, they were scared to have encountered a ghost. It was really difficult for them to be eased off the tension. In agitation and worry they confided in their friends who gave them confidence and courage that it was nothing rather the "act of love that Zion had for him". It took them long time to calm their nerves.
