Leaders who cannot inspire people would often try to manipulate them. But true leadership is setting example for others to emulate because they are inspired. On the other hands, those who instigate fear in people, and even threaten or promise, are not leaders. Instead they are manipulators. Their soul aim is to demonstrate their power, control and even abuse people.
Now let's consider this; If I make you want to do what I ask you to do that's inspirational leader but if I order you to do something and I threaten you with consequences—that's coercion. Leading by example doesn't require manipulation.
What's the fundamental evidence of true leadership? Influence is the fundamental evidence of true leadership. Your ability to influence others positively—making people do what they never thought of doing but in a more polite way other than by coercion. Although, most times we mistake influence to manipulation but I tell you this—to get someone to do something, you must influence the person, but as a servant leader you are expected not to threaten or oppress. You have a better chance of influencing others if you can inspire them and you inspire them through your own passion.
Passion is the heart of leadership. Passion produces inspiration and only if you can inspire them I tell you that you can also influence people.
Inspiration has a lot to offer a true leader because it helps to motivate followers in achievement of greater success.
