The need for integrity is as great as it has ever been. And it is essential for everyone who desires to become a person of influence.
Take a look at this instance, if I try to use human influence strategies and tactics of how to get other people to do what I want, to work better, to be more motivated, to like me and others while I have flawed character—this marks my insincerity, I tell you in the long run, I cannot be successful, why because of the flaw. We have no flawless or perfect human but if you have the quality of distrust, at such point even using the so called good human relation techniques will be perceived as manipulative.
The truth remains that it simply makes no difference how good rhetoric is or even how good the intentions are; if there is little or no trust, there is no foundation for permanent success. Only basic goodness gives life to technique.
I have said this before, integrity is crucial for business and personal success. As important as integrity is to your business success, it's even more crucial if you want to become an influencer. It is the foundation upon which many other qualities are built, such as respect, dignity and trust. If the foundation of integrity is weak or fundamentally flawed, then being a person of influence becomes impossible. Always remember that one of the realities of life is that if you can't trust a person at all point, you can't truly trust him or her at any point.
Even people who are able to hide their lack of integrity for a period of time will eventually experience failure, and whatever influence they have temporarily gained will disappear. They will drastically reduce in success as their failure level increases.
Think of integrity having benefits similar to that of a house's foundation during a huge storm. If the foundation is strong then it will hold up against the raging waters but when there are cracks in the foundation, the stress of the storm deepens the cracks until eventually under pressure the foundation and the whole house crumble.
Meanwhile, if you have integrity you are going high in life and your capacity towards reaching your destination is strong but without integrity, mark my word, you are definitely going to fall short of greatness in life. In as much as individuals need integrity, so need to be immune to integrity issues, government hasn't been immune to integrity issues even.
