The dangers of childbearing can be greatly reduced when partners take necessary precautions and preventive measures to ascertain the safety of the woman. It is very

  • If a woman is in good health and eats very well before becoming pregnant.
  • Goes early for antenatal care; the dirse visit being within the first three months of pregnancy.
  • When she is checked by a skilled health worker at least eight times during every pregnancy, spread across the duration of pregnancy
  • When she gives birth to her baby with the help of a skilled birth attendant eh doctor, nurse, midwife, community Health Officer (CHO) and Community Health Extension worker (CHEW)
  • And is checked with the baby within 3 hours of the baby's birth,then within the first three days, and as the health worker then decides.

Moreover, every family has the right to know about safe motherhood

  • It is important for all families to be able to know the danger signs during pregnancy, child birth and six weeks after birth. They should have plans if situation of blood donation arises for getting immediate help from skilled birth attendants if problems arise.
  • A skilled birth attendant, such as a doctor, nurse or midwife, CHO, CHEW should check the woman at least eight times, spread through the period of pregnancy. 

NB: using a skilled birth attendant will ensure a safer pregnancy and a healthy baby.

  • All pregnant women should eat enough good food, restore, sleep well and avoid hard work such as lifting and carrying heavy loads during the pregnancy. 
  • Medicine not prescribed by health worker , cigarette, alcohol, hard drugs such as weed, marijuana read also, Effects Of Marijuana are harmful to pregnant women and their babies.
