The Weeping Lecturer

In the morning, the heavens opened and it began to rain. Bella grabbed her umbrella to get to school, as she walked out of the hostel the first

What Happens After Marriage a short story

After marriage, the next obstacle was how to provide for his family, Cecilia's education being the most pressing; she was due to attend a high college, but money was a constraint. As he thought through this, sadness overwhelmed him.

Muna walked in to see her husband looking moody and lost in thought. She knew he didn't notice her entrance because of the way he instantly reacted when she touched him. She understood his worries and his pain which she also shared with him, but she was more worried because the situation had affected her husband drastically.

"I hope you have not spent all day sorrowing over Cecilia's education," she subtly asked.

"I really do not know what to do," he replied dejectedly.

"Don't worry everything will be alright," she replied. But within her, she knew it was not alright, but she did not want to show her own fear.

The back door opened with a click and Cecilia and her friend, Olivia walked in. She looked at her parents and sensed they were in the "middle of something" and needed not to be disturbed. She and her friend greeted them and Cecilia took Olivia to the back of the house, where they went chatting over different girls' matter, but Cecilia's happy mood changed when Olivia changed their discussion to education.

"I am going off to higher school," Olivia excitedly said to Cecilia.

"Really?" Cecilia trying hard to hide her jealousy and wished she were the person in her position.

"My mother has made all the necessary arrangements. I would be leaving for school next week," she paused and looked at Cecilia with concern and continued, "I am going to miss you, I really do not know when I would return, but I guess after my graduation in the next five to six years, it will be great to see you again." Then suddenly Olivia stood up, "It is getting late, I have to be at home to help my mother prepare dinner." Cecilia looked at her blankly and couldn't manage a word as Olivia walked away.

From that moment, Cecilia became more frustrated, she would cry uncontrollably at home all day, she became pale and refused to eat. Dogo, her father and Muna, her mother became worried and the fear of losing their only daughter through grief overwhelmed them. One night as Dogo and Muna discussed through the night over the problem, they decided to sell their only piece of land to send Cecilia to school, though it was a difficult decision, but they had to do it.

It was a dream come true when Cecilia found herself in a high institution. Though the splendour and temptation abounded in school, she promised herself never to disappoint her parents who had sacrificed everything to send her to school. She resisted "passes" from fellow students and lecturers. In her hostel, Cecilia met Oma, Kosi and Ebube.

Things you should expect when you connect with your spot

Get out of the rat race. After all, if you win, you will simply be the big rat. Stop running in the competition. The only person you should compete with is yourself. "how well am I performing in my leadership spot," is what you should ask yourself. You have to know that the battery does not compete with a spark plug, because the battery knows the spark plug can never be a battery, and so on. They sit in the engine in their spots and serve the engine their gift without competing

Why does negative behaviour continue?

It works. There is some kind of payoff, some type of momentary satisfaction that is derived from not changing. The reward might be financial or psychological. Some people will continue unproductive behaviour to seek approval, acceptance, praise, or love. Others continue their unacceptable actions out of pride, greed or a sense of personal fulfilment. They may oppress others with their need to always be right because they treasure being right- even if it destroys a relationship.

Adding value to other people is the work of a positive influencer

As you move up to the higher levels of influence and become an active influencer, you can begin to have a positive influence on people and add value on their lives. That's true for any positive influencer. The baby-sitter who reads to the child encourages him to love books and helps him become a lifelong learner. The teacher who puts his faith, confidence, and love on a child helps the child to feel valued and good about herself. That boss who delegates to the employees and gives them authority as well as responsibility enlarges their horizons and empowers them to become better workers and people. Even the parents who know how to give their children grace and when to, also help them to stay open and communicative. All of these people add lasting value to the lives of other people. One thing is this, we don't know what kind of influence you have on others, today as you read this article. Your actions may touch the lives of thousands of people. Perhaps you use the opportunity
